The Federal Polytechnic Ede marked a new chapter in student leadership as the institution officially inaugurated its newly elected Students’ Union Government (SUG) executives in a grand ceremony held at SOB Hall.
The event, which symbolized the institution’s commitment to democracy and student representation, was attended by esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, students, and special guests.

The newly elected SUG executives, led by President Comr. Ayanyemi Damilare Marvellous, were officially sworn into office, pledging to serve with integrity, dedication, and accountability.
In his inaugural address, the SUG President emphasized the administration’s priorities, which include:
Enhancing student welfare and support systems
Promoting academic excellence and institutional development
Encouraging student engagement, inclusivity, and advocacy
Strengthening communication between students and the administration
He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a transparent and responsive union that addresses student concerns and fosters unity within the institution.
The ceremony featured several key moments, including:
Rector’s Address – Delivered by Deputy Rector Dr. Ileladewa, who urged the new executives to uphold the values of service, leadership, and responsibility while fostering a productive relationship between students and management.
Vote of Thanks – Given by the SUG Public Relations Officer (PRO), expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in facilitating a smooth transition of leadership.
Award Presentation – Members of the Transition Committee were honored for their dedication in ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
Among the distinguished guests was Comr. Olatunji Olorunfemi Awokoworldwide, a respected alumnus who currently serves as the National Publicity Secretary of the Federal Polytechnic Ede Alumni Association. As a former SUG President (2011), his presence underscored the importance of mentorship, continuity, and alumni involvement in student leadership and institutional growth.
The successful inauguration of the SUG executives marks the beginning of a new era of student governance at Federal Polytechnic Ede.
