We, the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC) Osun Axis ably led by Comrade Solomon Ayobami Abel, are deeply saddened and outraged by the indefinite suspension of the Student Union President, members of the executive council, and several students of the Osun State College of Education, Ila-orangun.
This action, taken by the college management in response to protests staged on Wednesday and Thursday, is an affront to the fundamental rights of students to express their grievances peacefully.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with the affected students and condemn this insensitive act by the college management.
The suspension of students for exercising their right to protest is a clear violation of their fundamental rights and a blatant disregard for their right to freedom of expression.
We, the leadership of NANS JCC Osun Axis are committed to investigating the root cause of this suspension and ensuring that the students' voices are heard.
We will not stand idly by while the rights of students are trampled upon. We demand the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of all suspended students and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their suspension.
We urge the college management to engage in meaningful dialogue with the student body and address their concerns in a constructive and transparent manner.
We believe that education should be a space for critical thinking, open discourse, and the pursuit of knowledge.
We call on all students of Osun State College of Education, Ila-orangun, to remain calm and united during this challenging time. We will continue to advocate for your rights and ensure that justice prevails.
