NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS
JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL, Osun Axis.
March 21, 2025.
We, the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC) Osun Axis, under the stewardship of Comrade Solomon Ayobami Abel, wishes to commend the efforts of the Governor of Osun State for his unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and orderliness across the state. His proactive measures and dedication to ensuring the safety of all residents is highly commendable, and we appreciate the steps taken to foster a harmonious environment for all communities.
However, we are deeply concerned about the recent clashes between the Ifon and Ilobu communities, which have raised significant alarm among students and residents alike. The escalating tensions in this area pose a serious threat to the safety and wellbeing of individuals, particularly students from Westland Polytechnic and Crestfield College of Science, that are situated in this communities.
As umbrella body of Student organization in Osun Axis, we prioritize the safety of our members and the entire student populace in Osun State. It is imperative that we address the potential risks associated with the ongoing community clash, as the safety of our students must remain a top priority. We urge the state government to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace in the affected areas. This includes deploying security personnel to the communities to ensure that law and order are maintained and that residents can go about their daily lives without fear of violence or disruption.
The safety of our students is paramount, and we cannot afford to compromise their security. We are calling on the Governor and relevant security agencies to prioritize this issue, ensuring that adequate measures are put in place to protect the lives of those residing in and around the affected areas. We believe that with prompt and effective intervention, peace can be restored, and the communities can work towards rebuilding trust and cooperation.
Furthermore, we encourage students in this affected areas to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. It is crucial that we all play our part in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learning and growth.
In conclusion, we commend the Governor for his ongoing efforts to maintain peace in Osun State, and we implore him to take swift action regarding the Ifon-Ilobu community clash. The lives of our students depend on it, and we believe that together, we can work towards a safer and more harmonious Osun State.
We stand ready to support any initiatives aimed at fostering peace and ensuring the safety of our students. Let us work together to build a brighter future for all residents of Osun State.
