Our attention has been drawn to a purported meeting and compromise allegedly reached between house agents, and one Olakolupo Oluwasegun Akinbode, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter.
We find it deeply concerning that an individual would attempt to undermine our collective struggle for affordable and regulated housing in Osun State.
Let it be explicitly clear: any backdoor agreement made without the formal involvement of the Osun State Government and the Osun State House of Assembly is illegitimate and holds no weight.
The regulation of house agents and landlords is a policy matter that requires legislative and executive action, not personal negotiations for political or selfish gain.
We view this act as a deliberate attempt to sabotage our efforts and divert attention from the genuine demands of the people. However, we remain firm in our resolve.
Once again, we reaffirm our stance: If the Osun State Government and the Osun State House of Assembly fail to address our legitimate demands, we will not hesitate to embark on a statewide protest to demand immediate action.
The leadership of the YAN, Osun state chapter is not in competition with any organization, but rather focused on making lives easier for Osun state youths.
We remain too committed to fall prey to cheap divide and rule tactics employed by destructive forces.
Leadership is not a business entity, it's strictly a responsibility. Let us stop toying with the issues affecting the good people of Osun state.
The struggle for a fair, regulated, and affordable housing system in Osun State is not one that can be hijacked or negotiated away by a single individual.
We urge all stakeholders to remain steadfast, and we call on the relevant authorities to act swiftly before this crisis escalates further.
