The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun State, under the leadership of  Comrade Solomon Ayobami Abel, strongly condemns the continuous exploitation of students by house agents across the state.

It is disheartening to witness a society where students, who were once respected and supported at every level of education, are now being exploited by those who once benefited freely from the system. It is unacceptable that these same individuals now engage in exploitative practices, especially targeting young students trying to secure accommodation.

We have encountered numerous cases where a single apartment is deceitfully allocated to multiple tenants.

We have also received reports of students being harassed and threatened by agents and landlords, even after making full payment for rent and associated fees.

As representatives of the students, we are deeply pained by these injustices, and we can no longer remain silent while the rights and dignity of our fellow students are trampled upon.

Our trust in the government's willingness to protect students is being tested.

After several consultations and peaceful engagements, we are forced to issue this final notice. If the government fails to take immediate action and call these government-registered agents to order, we will have no choice but to escalate our response.

Our key demands are as follows:

1. Immediate and significant reduction in the percentage or fees charged by house agents.

2. An end to threats, intimidation, and illegal actions against students who speak up about unfair treatment.

We hereby call on the government to urgently intervene and take concrete action in addressing these grievances.

Failure to meet these demands by Monday19th May 2025  will result in the relocation of the NANS Secretariat to the Osun State Capital  for a massive protest and confrontation.

We urge the government to act swiftly in the interest of justice and the welfare of Nigerian students.
