While we acknowledge and respect the right of every group or citizen to express grievances, we strongly believe that the statement by CCNC lacks depth, fairness, and objectivity. The National Youth Conference is a federal initiative with an open registration portal, and the link was publicly circulated for all qualified and interested youths to register, eliminating the need for undue influence or secretive selection as alleged.
It is therefore misleading and divisive to single out the Honourable Commissioner as being responsible for the registration or representation process. We believe any issue regarding representation at the Confab should be directed to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, not to the Osun State Ministry which has consistently engaged with youth stakeholders across board.
Under Hon. Olagunju’s stewardship, Osun youths have witnessed a refreshing level of inclusion, partnership, and development. From grassroots engagement to empowerment schemes, capacity-building programs, and youth-oriented policy formulation, he has proven to be a Commissioner who walks the talk.
We are proud to pass a vote of confidence in his leadership and urge him to remain focused on his mandate, despite distractions from politically motivated pressure groups seeking relevance by sowing division.
We particularly commend the gender-sensitive approach in the selection process for the Confab, ensuring that female voices are adequately represented. This aligns with progressive youth leadership and reflects the inclusive agenda of both the Osun State Government and the Federal Ministry of Youth.
We urge all stakeholders, including CCNC and others, to desist from unnecessarily politicizing youth issues. Rather than attacking state officials, we encourage every youth group to focus on solution-driven engagement and national unity.
We further appeal to His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, to continue supporting transparent youth development efforts and not to allow genuine progress to be derailed by politically sponsored narratives.
In conclusion, the youths and students of Osun State remain solidly behind the Commissioner for Youth Affairs. We will not allow external or self-serving interests to destabilize the peace and progress being recorded in youth development in our state.
