We the Leadership of NANS, we express our deep anger and disappointment over the continued neglect of the Iree-Ada road, which has now become nothing short of a
death trap.
This road, which serves as a critical link to Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), has caused untold suffering to students, staff, and residents. Many have sustained serious injuries, some have tragically lost their lives, and countless vehicles have been damaged due to the terrible condition of this road.
Despite repeated cries, letters, and calls for intervention, the Osun State Government under Governor Ademola Adeleke has deliberately ignored this vital educational route, even while expanding road projects elsewhere in the state.
Let it be clearly stated:
The Governor’s continuous silence in the face of this injustice is a direct insult to the students' community. If the Governor can see our agitation and still do nothing, then he has shown that he places no value on the lives, welfare, or education of Osun State students.
We, as NANS leadership, can no longer remain silent in the face of this inhumane abandonment.
WE ARE TAKING ACTION
To drive home our demands and register our total displeasure, we will be leading a peaceful protest to the Governor’s Office in Abere, Osogbo.
Date: Wednesday, 10th September 2025
Time: 9:00 AM
Take-off Point: ??
OUR DEMANDS:
1. Immediate commencement of construction on the Ada Iree road, which has claimed the lives of students and continues to pose a grave danger to thousands.
2. Rehabilitation and construction of all major roads leading to student communities across Osun State to ensure safety and ease of transportation.
3. Proper recognition and inclusion of the student community in governance processes, particularly those that directly affect education and youth development..
The NANS Osun Axis strongly condemns the inaction of the Osun State Government and reminds Governor Adeleke that education must be respected and student lives must be protected.
Enough is enough.
Signed,
Leadership of NANS JCC OSUN AXIS.
