The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun State, in collaboration with the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), unequivocally condemns the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as one of the most anti-student and disappointing governments in the history of Osun State.

This administration has been marked by empty promises, chronic procrastination, deliberate neglect, and the politicization of students’ welfare. Under Governor Adeleke’s leadership, students across Osun State–owned institutions have suffered an outrageous 200% increment in school fees, placing higher education far beyond the reach of children from poor and average families.

Critical student routes, particularly the Iree–Ada Road, have been abandoned and converted into death traps, exposing students to constant danger. Promises of constructing 5km internal campus roads remain unfulfilled and exist only as political propaganda. There is no provision of mobility support for students’ union bodies, yet these same unions are persistently targeted as revenue sources.

The level of infrastructural decay in state-owned institutions is alarming. For instance, the School of Health, Ilesa, lacks a single tiled or motorable road, an unacceptable reality in a supposedly progressive state. There is no bursary scheme, no welfare structure, and no tangible student support system, despite the government mobilizing over 80% of students for PVC registration for political advantage.

Historically, Osun students experienced a better yesterday. Previous administrations provided buses and institutional support to students’ unions, national bodies, and sister associations. Governor Adeleke’s administration has not only failed to improve upon this legacy but has completely dismantled it, reducing students to spectators in governance.

After exhausting all peaceful and legitimate avenues, NANS and NAOSS engaged the governor during his visit to UNIOSUN. Rather than constructive engagement, over 100 armed soldiers were deployed to intimidate unarmed students, a troubling misuse of state power. Although the governor promised action within one week, that promise has elapsed without result, further eroding trust.

We hereby declare that students’ patience has run out. We remain committed to pursuing all lawful and democratic means to demand accountability and justice for Osun students.

Consequently, the leadership of all student structures in Osun State, from local unions to national bodies, All SUG presidents in OSUN, All indigenous chapter presidents, including NANS, NAOSS, and all sister associations, hereby passes a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE in Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Let this be clearly noted: students are alert, students are united, and students will not forget.

Come 2026, Osun students will remember.
