The Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO) has read with disgust the open letter by Hon. Wole Oke, where he suddenly remembers he is a subject of His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa.
In the pretentious letter, Hon. Oke struggled to renew his loyalty to the royal father after spending 8 years building a substandard mini-stadium in Ijebu-Jesa, a project that has now become a forest reserve for hunters.
We understand two things clearly: first, that moribund mini-stadium, where local hunters now display expertise in precision shooting, is the only legacy project Hon. Wole Oke can point to in Ijebu-Jesa after 20 years in office; second, that he only remembers being a subject of His Royal Majesty, Oba Agunsoye, during election season.
It is the duty of a father to protect his children from political slave masters who drag them to shrines for oath-taking over a miserable N20,000. It is the height of political desperation for a man who crawled around Ijebu-Jesa every election cycle for 24 years without a single legacy project to now lecture a revered monarch on neutrality, simply because Kabiyesi frowned at oath-taking.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye has spoken. He will never allow his children to be cursed because of selfish political ambition. He has consulted his forefathers and declared those oaths null and void. He said, *"Collect their money, but don't vote for them. Nothing will happen to you. We have reversed the curse."* That is what a true father does. That is fatherhood.
You cannot blackmail the Elegboro. Kabiyesi was addressing politicians who take eligible voters to shrines for oath-taking. Why is Hon. Wole Oke so disturbed by the directive of a royal father? Is he among those taking voters to shrines?
You cannot blackmail Ijebu-Jesa. You cannot blackmail Ijesa North. Stop taking constituents to shrines for oath-taking. Rather, take them to see your legacy projects in Ijesa North, including the 16-year uncompleted Military Games Village in your hometown, Esa-Oke.
Enough is enough.
