What started as an act of kindness and trust has now turned into pain, confusion and disappointment for a young lady, after a friend she trusted allegedly collected money from her and cut off all communication.
According to the lady, who spoke exclusively to Kitloadedng Media, her friend chatted her up on the 1st of October, pleading for financial assistance.
Out of love and friendship, she sent him the amount he requested, after he promised to pay back within two weeks.
“He’s my friend and he chatted me that he wanted me to borrow him some amount of money. Since 1st of October, I sent him the money. He promised to pay back in the next two weeks,”
she narrated.
But two weeks came and passed — no refund, no explanation.
SILENCE ON WHATSAPP AND TIKTOK
The lady said she tried to reach out to him on WhatsApp and TikTok, but he stopped replying to her messages.
“Since then he didn’t reply my message on WhatsApp and TikTok. I called him also, he’s not picking up,” she said.
She further revealed that she tried calling the number she sent the money to, but the number was not going through.
THE SHOCKING CALL
After several failed attempts, she said she called the number again yesterday, about three times. He did not pick up at first, but later returned the call — and what he said left her in shock.
Instead of an apology or explanation about the money, she alleged he resorted to insults and accusations.
“He later called me saying sort of words that I’m a yahoo girl, that I’m trying to dump him, that this sim I called, he just bought it not even up to 3 days,” she lamented.
The lady expressed deep hurt over the development, stating that all she did was help a friend in need, only to be labelled and abandoned.
A LESSON FOR ALL
This incident has once again raised concerns about lending money to friends without proper documentation, and how trust is being abused in friendships and relationships in recent times.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the alleged friend for his own side of the story were unsuccessful.
