The lingering communal clash in Esa-Oke has escalated into a serious security threat, putting the students of Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH) at great risk.

While we acknowledge that the crisis is not directly related to the student community, the volatility of the situation has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, which is detrimental to our academic pursuit and overall well-being.

As young Nigerians striving for a brighter future through education, we should not have to live in fear of violence.

The safety of students should be a priority, and the current state of insecurity calls for swift and decisive action from the Osun State Government and all relevant security agencies.

We commend the efforts of the school management and the Students’ Union Government in taking proactive steps to secure students within the campus.

However, we cannot overemphasize the need for external reinforcement to ensure the safety of those who reside off-campus.

Many students currently feel unsafe in their places of residence, and as a precautionary measure, some have sought refuge within the school premises.

This is a Save Our Soul (SOS) message to the Osun State Government, security agencies, and all concerned stakeholders: Act now before the situation spirals further! We call for immediate intervention in restoring peace and ensuring the safety of all residents, particularly the student community, who are vulnerable in such conflicts.

The essence of education is to build a future, but insecurity threatens that very foundation. We urge the state government to take immediate steps to de-escalate the crisis, deploy adequate security personnel, and restore calm to Esa-Oke.

Education must not be disrupted by fear. We plead for urgent action before we record casualties. May we never be victims of negative circumstances.

Signed,

Comrade Ajibade Kehinde Daniel

President, students Union government osun state college of technology esa oke.
