FREEDOM COMETH BY STRUGGLE!!!
After days of consistent agitation, negotiations, and uncompromising advocacy for the welfare of Nigerian students across Osun State, we are pleased to announce to the general students’ community and the entire progressive comrades that our voices have been heard.
Following our official engagement with the Honourable Commissioner for Education, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Director of Works, the state government has granted approval to several of our core demands:
1. Approval of the second phase of the 1.8km Iree–Ada road project to ease the hardship faced by students and residents.
2. Provision of CNG buses for each students’ union and campus in Osun State, as a direct response to our demand for affordable and safe transportation for students.
3. Official reinstatement of the 18 unjustly suspended students of OSSCE Ila,restoring their right to learning and association.
4. Reactivation of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) in OSUN STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ILA campus, thereby returning the voice of students back to campus.
While we commend the state government for responding positively to these demands, we place it on record that Nigerian students will not settle for mere promises. We demand visible action and practical implementation of all approvals on or before the end of this month.
We reiterate that it takes us nothing to work with a government that is willing to prioritize students’ welfare, but we equally remind the government that it takes us nothing to return to the streets if agreements are betrayed.
In view of these developments, and in the spirit of dialogue and progress, the protest earlier scheduled for today, Wednesday, 10th September 2025, is hereby suspended.
We deeply appreciate all comrades, stakeholders, and the resilient Nigerian students who stood firmly in this struggle. This victory is not for any individual but for the collective interest of the entire students’ constituency in Osun State.
