NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS) JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL (JCC), OSUN AXIS

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun Axis, strongly condemns the continuous neglect and outright disregard for students welfare by the administration of Ademola Adeleke.

It is deeply disappointing that a government which once projected itself as student-friendly has now reduced students concerns to mere political propaganda and empty promises.

We recall vividly that on September 13, 2025, the Osun State Government publicly approved and announced the construction of critical road projects iree- Ada road which has been affecting students across the campus. This announcement, heavily publicized, has since proven to be nothing more than a political showpiece, as no tangible work has commenced on these roads to date.

Furthermore, the widely publicized promise of constructing 5 kilometers of road within each campus in Osun State has remained a deceitful assurance, with no visible effort, no mobilization to site, and no commitment demonstrated by the government. This level of insincerity is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated by the student community.

NANS Osun Axis hereby issues a strict ultimatum of seven (7) working days to the Osun State Government to mobilize to site and commence visible work on these projects. Failure to comply will leave Nigerian students with no option but to embark on massive, coordinated actions across the state.

In addition, following a resolution reached at a strategic meeting involving union leadership across the state, it was agreed that institutional managements are to provide mobility support (official buses) to their respective Union Presidents to enhance effective coordination and administration.

It is, however, alarming that only Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has complied with this directive, while other institutions have blatantly ignored this collective decision.

Consequently, NANS JCC Osun issues a final warning to all non-compliant institutions: any institution that fails to provide the agreed mobility support within the next seven (7) working days will face total shutdown of academic activities by the leadership of NANS JCC Osun Axis.

We will not fold our arms and watch students’ interests continually trampled upon by both government and institutional authorities. This is not a request, it is a demand backed by the collective will of Nigerian students.

The patience of students has been overstretched. The era of empty promises is over. Immediate action must be taken.
