NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS)
JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL (JCC), OSUN AXIS

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun Axis, expresses its total rejection and strong condemnation of the recently introduced Endowment Fee imposed on students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

This development is not only insensitive and ill-timed, but also reflects a growing pattern of systematic financial exploitation of students under the guise of institutional policies.

At a time when Nigerian students are battling severe economic hardship, it is both shocking and unacceptable that school authorities would introduce a fee that has no direct academic or welfare benefit to the students.

NANS JCC Osun Axis states categorically:

The Endowment Fee is unjustifiable.
The Endowment Fee is exploitative.
The Endowment Fee is unacceptable.

We are particularly disturbed by reports that this policy is being driven with the influence of certain alumni interests who have failed to demonstrate any meaningful contribution to student welfare, yet seek to place additional financial responsibility on students.

Alumni bodies are expected to give back and support students, not to create policies that further burden them. Any structure that demands from students without visible impact on their academic or social well-being lacks legitimacy and moral standing.

In light of this, NANS JCC Osun Axis hereby issues a 48 HOURS ULTIMATUM to the management of both institutions:

Immediate withdrawal and suspension of the Endowment Fee

Full disclosure and transparency on all student-related charges

Proper consultation with student leadership before any further financial decisions

Failure to comply within the stipulated 48 hours will compel NANS to activate all necessary structures of student unionism to resist this imposition, including coordinated actions across campuses in Osun State.

Let it be made clear:

Nigerian students are not a tool for revenue generation.
Nigerian students will not be subjected to continuous exploitation.
NANS will not stand by while students are oppressed.
