The Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO) has called on Hon. Wole Oke, lawmaker representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, to immediately redeem the donation he pledged during Iloko Day 2024.

It is on record that Hon. Oke, while addressing the good people of Iloko-Ijesa, publicly pledged to support the community and assured that he would not abandon the town.

It is embarrassing that a pledge made before His Royal Majesty, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, his chiefs, and the entire community has remained unfulfilled two years after.

Iloko people are honest and hardworking people who deserve respect. You can not come to their festival, make a bogus pledge before the people, and disappear. We condemn deception under the guise of representation.

POCO implores Hon. Oke to do the honorable thing and fulfill his pledge without further delay.

We also strongly condemn the growing reports of forced oath-taking across Oriade/Obokun ahead of 2027 general elections. This crude and undemocratic practice must stop.

Let it be known that Oriade/Obokun belongs to no one. Our people reserve the right to support any candidate of their choice without being threatened or compelled to swear to any deity or object.

We appreciate our royal fathers and stakeholders for speaking against this evil practice. We also commend Ijesa North youths for making a bold stand against oath-taking.

Signed:

Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo

Spokesperson,

Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO)
