Hona Barrister Kanmi Ajibola Condemns Failure of IBEDC Ijesa Land District to Honour Agreement on Power Supply to Oriade Communities
The Honourable Barrister Kanmi Ajibola, Member Representing Oriade State Constituency at the Osun State House of Assembly, has expressed serious concern over the failure of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Limited (IBEDC), Ijesa Land District, to honour the agreement reached regarding the prolonged blackout affecting several towns and communities across Oriade Local Government.
The Honourable Member had engaged the management of IBEDC Ijesa Land District on the urgent need to restore electricity supply to the affected communities and had reached an understanding with the company towards resolving the persistent power outage. However, despite the agreement reached, the expected improvement in electricity supply has not materialised, leaving residents and businesses to continue suffering the consequences of the prolonged blackout.
Hon. Barrister Kanmi Ajibola considers the continued failure to restore electricity to the affected communities unacceptable, particularly given the impact on economic activities, education, healthcare, security, businesses and the general well-being of the people of Oriade Local Government.
The Honourable Member therefore wishes to assure the good people of Oriade Local Government that he remains fully committed to resolving the matter. He will not relent in using every legitimate avenue available to him to ensure that the concerns of his constituents are addressed.
Hon. Barrister Kanmi Ajibola further wishes to inform the people of Oriade that, following the failure of IBEDC Ijesa Land District to honour the agreement reached, the matter will now be pursued as a legislative issue, with further appropriate steps, including judicial action where necessary, to compel the relevant authorities to fulfil their obligations and restore regular electricity supply to the affected communities.
The Honourable Member calls on the people of Oriade Local Government to remain calm, united and law-abiding while assuring them that their concerns are being taken seriously. He will continue to engage the relevant authorities and pursue every lawful means necessary to protect the interests and welfare of his constituents.
