The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) wishes to inform the general public and the entire Nigerian student populace that the matter concerning the alleged burglary and theft in Osogbo, Osun State, has been placed under investigation following a series of high-level engagements between the leadership of NANS, the Nigerian Air Force, and the Nigerian Police Force.
After a thorough roundtable meeting involving the three parties, all arrested students and affected individuals have been released on the 23rd February, 2026 by the Nigerian Police Force under the leadership of SP Lukman Afolabi (OC Anti-cultist), Osogbo, demonstrating a commitment to justice, dialogue, and the rule of law.
The Nigerian Air Force, Osogbo, led by Squadron Leader SS Innocent, has formally taken responsibility for the investigation of what transpired between their officers and the citizens involved in the clash before the theft case and has assured that any miliyary personnel found culpable will be identified and prosecuted accordingly in line with the provisions of military law. While the DCOS to the President implored him to take appropriate disciplinary actions on everyone who is found involved in the clash and to make it known to the public & Nigerian Students at large for fairness and justice.
This resolution was reached through the intervention and strategic engagement of the NANS National Leadership, ably represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff II to the National President.
NANS appreciates the professionalism and commitment to peaceful resolution demonstrated by the officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Osogbo and the Nigerian Air Force, Osogbo, whose roles were instrumental in ensuring that the situation was brought under control without further escalation.
We reaffirm that the student body remains committed to constructive engagement, justice, accountability, and the protection of the fundamental rights of all Nigerian students and citizens.
Com. O’DESTINY sincerely appreciate Squadron Leader SS Innocent for the role he played by facilitating a peace meeting between Nigeria Police, Nigerian Air Force and NANS. He also assured the victims whom items were carted away that if any recovery of their items is made after investigation it will be returned to them promptly by the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria.
NANS will continue to prioritize dialogue over confrontation while maintaining its unwavering stance against oppression, abuse of power, and impunity in any form.
